Having focused his practice in recent years on online surveys and associated data analysis, Rees brings expertise including:
- Deciding the format, tempo, and programmatic aspects of surveys
- Drafting clear, unbiased, and insightful questions on surveys
- Cleaning and curating the data from survey respondents (or from internal firm or department datasets)
- Creating tables and charts that effectively display the findings from the survey data
- Preparing reports that convey the findings from the survey
Before joining Edge International, Rees worked in-house in for Merck’s General Counsel on management issues and also consulted to hundreds of law departments and law firms while at PwC (Director), Arthur Andersen (Partner), Hildebrandt (Partner), Altman Weil (Principal) and EY (Sr. Manager).
Rees has written a book for law firms about his passion, Savvy Surveys for the Legal Industry: A Guide for Success, and a book on data graphs for lawyers, Data Graphs for Legal Management: A Competitive Advantage for Decisions.
Rees has published more than 320 articles. Among his four other published books are Law Department Benchmarks: Myths Metrics and Management (Glasser LegalWorks 2nd ed. 2001).
Graduating Harvard College in 1974, Rees earned his law degree from Columbia Law School (1978) and an LLM from New York University (1984).
